New Year's Eve celebrations have become bigger and in many ways over the top. So it was quite refreshing to experience something different. My husband and I went to the NYE service of prayer and reflection at Our Lady of Dolours. There were about 150 people gathered. Many of whom were from other parishes. I believe this is the first such celebration to be held in the church in Glasnevin.
The celebration was very meaningful and well thought out. Both Fr. Richard and Sr. Brenda put obvious dedication and thought into planning of the event. Pat O' Donoghue arranged and organised the atmospheric music with songs sung by Liam Lawton at the service. The event began at11:30pm and finished at12:15am. The atmosphere was peaceful and the service so beautifully meaningful as Fr Richard guided us through reflection which allowed time to capture thoughts and reflect over the year 2014 as well as creating the time and space to look towards welcoming the New Year 2015.Both my husband Joe and I really enjoyed the whole experience and both agreed it was a wonderful way to welcome in the New Year. We look forward to more service events like this and take this opportunity to thank Fr Richard and the organisers.Teresa Grennell
