Ministers of the Eucharist: Coordinator Marie Brennan
Eucharistic Ministers are required to assist the priest in distributing the Holy Communion at Mass. They also bring the Eucharist to the sick and housebound every Sunday. Usually two Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest at the daily Mass and three or four Ministers are required to assist at Sunday Masses.
Ministers of the Word: Coordinator Joan Mc Rory
Following the recommendations of the Second Vatican Council Pope John Paul V1 (1972) restored the role of the Lector (reader) to the official status of Ministry. Lay people offer their services as reader, reading the word of God at Sunday and daily liturgies. Training will be provided for those wishing to come forward to engage in this ministry.
Music Ministry: Emily O’Connell and Peter O’Driscoll
Peter and Emily provide music for the 11.00am liturgies throughout the year and Peter also plays at the 18.30 vigil liturgy. We encourage the congregation to join us in praising and thanking God with psalms and hymns.

Sunday Plate Collectors: Kathleen Fitzsimons
The collectors here are those women and men who collect at Sunday Mass. We thank them for their generosity of spirit in this regard. There are two collections on Sundays and both go directly to the Dublin Diocese. The first collection is for the priests of the diocese including those are sick or retired. The Second collection is for SHARE this collection is shared through the Dublin Diocese, financial assistance to some Parish’s and the Pastoral needs of the Dublin Diocese.
Baptism Preparation Team: Breda Nolan (086 8528082)
The baptismal team at Our Lady of Dolours assists in the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. The team is made up of members of the laity who represent the larger community by welcoming the child to be baptised and their family, as they begin their journey of faith. The team meets with the parents and sponsors prior to the Baptism and help to prepare the liturgy. The Baptismal team are always looking for new members and training for this ministry is available.
Ministry of Church Decoration:
Flower arranging dates back to Ancient Egypt when flowers where selected according to symbolize meaning with emphasis on religious significance e.g. type of flower and colour. To—day our Flower arrangements are generally colour coordinated to Season or particular Celebration.

Parish Sacristan: Kathleen Fitzsimons
Since the new church was opened in 1972 there have been five Sacristans. Frank Corbett, Prionsias O’ Bradaigh, Sean Scallan, Colette Sanders and current sacristan, Kathleen Fitzsimons. The Sacristan in Glasnevin has always ensured that the Church is opened and ready for celebration of Mass, the Sacraments and other occasions when people gather to pray. The Sacristan ensures that the church is closed and secured at end of the day. A lot of behind the scene duties fall on the Sacristan. Ensuring that heat and lights are switched on. He/she coordinates ordering of supplies — candles, altar breads, altar wine, Missalettes.
